Myth: Atheists Have No One to Thank When Feeling Thankful, Happy

Religious theists, and especially Christians, are often giving public thanks to their god for one thing or another. For that reason, I suppose, they seem to have trouble imaging that irreligious atheists who don't believe in any gods would have anyone to thank. The truth is, though, we do -- it's just that we can thank the people who are directly responsible for whatever good fortune we are thankful for. We don't ignore them in favor of an irrelevant, imaginary being.
