Around this time, Sidon began providing Persia with both ships and sailors to help the fight Egypt and Greece. Sidon's most important product was domestic glass - so much so, in fact, that some believed glass to have been invented in Sidon. Purple dye came as a close second for exports - this same purple dye was the biggest export of Phoenician traders generally, though it was most closely associated with the city of Tyre.
