The label 'infidel' is defined literally as 'one without faith.' Today it is technically an archaic label for those who doubt or deny the tenets of some religion. An infidel in one society, though, may be a True Believer in a neighboring society. Being an infidel is relative to whatever religion has the most social, cultural, and political power in a society.
