Forum Discussion: One Book for Christmas

Perhaps it's just a coincidence created by culture, but in my experience atheists in modern West seem to be especially interested in reading -- possibly more interested than the average person. I frequently see discussions about favorite or educational books, usually non-fiction books on history, law, philosophy, etc. This time of year, many atheists have received or purchased books -- but what book was most important to you? Which book were you looking forward to the most?

A forum member writes:

Ok. Short and sweet. You're allowed to buy one, just one, book for Xmas. What would it be? If you'd like to explain why, or offer a pre'cis, please do so.

Here's mine. "A Good Quarrel." The book offers a look at a number of intriguing oral arguments before the supreme court as seen thru the eyes of reporter types who cover the court, regularly. One of those arguments involved "our own" Michael Newdow...

If you didn't need or want any new books because you were already set, which was your favorite book from 2009 -- a book that made you think the most, that informed you the most, and/or that you would recommend the most to others?
