Introduction to the Book of Numbers Oct 22nd 2011, 08:00 Numbers returns the Pentateuch to story telling: the Israelites travel to the promised land, but God denies them entry because they are scared. The Israelites had been promised Canaan, land originally given to Abraham, but when they learn about the strength of the current occupants, they are too scared to enter.
